Resilience Engineering, DevOps, and Psychological Safety

Resilience Engineering (RE) is a decades old field of applied research and some see it as the next phase of DevOps. RE effectively broadens the DevOps approach to include entire organisations, and their ability to anticipate, detect, respond to, and learn from incidents.
This talk covers:
  • What Resilience Engineering is (and why this might be controversial!)
  • How Resilience Engineering approaches help us build high performing systems and organisations.
  • Why psychological safety, fire drills, and other practices are critical components of Resilience Engineering.

Required audience experience

Experience in DevOps practices such as CI/CD, automation, cloud engineering.

Objectives of the talk

  • Attendees will learn the fundamentals of resilience engineering approaches and how it applies to both systems and people.
  • Through these practices and behaviours, you’ll build better systems, and your teams will perform better too, able to innovate and take risks without fear of failure.
